A registered nurse with Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience is needed to support a 36-bed PCU with an average census of 36 patients. This contract opportunity is based in Concord, NC, offering a 12-hour night shift schedule with a weekend rotation every other week (EOW) and requirements to work 75% of holidays.

Responsibilities include providing high-quality nursing care to patients with diagnoses such as COPD, heart failure, cardiac arrhythmias, renal failure, sepsis, and patients requiring mechanical ventilation or advanced respiratory support like BIPAP/CPAP and high flow nasal cannula. Nurses will manage complex cases involving tracheostomies, cardiac drips, temporary and transvenous pacemakers, chest tubes, blood products administration, wound care, and titratable IV drips. Patient ratios range from 1:3 to 1:4, ensuring manageable caseloads for thorough care delivery.

Key qualifications and experience:

  • Active RN license with BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
  • Minimum 18 months of PCU nursing experience
  • Expertise in cardiac rhythm interpretation and management of complex PCU patients
  • Proficiency with EMR systems, preferably EPIC, and familiarity with associated medical equipment (Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell med dispensing, Phillips monitors)
  • Ability to float within the assigned regional hospitals as needed, with travel time compensated during shifts

The nursing team receives multidisciplinary support from CNAs, virtual nursing resources, dedicated pharmacists, case managers, respiratory therapists, clinical nurse specialists, and hospitalist coverage to optimize patient outcomes. Orientation includes new employee orientation (NEO) and two departmental training days.
