An opportunity is available for a Registered Nurse with Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) experience in Corsicana, TX. This contract position involves providing critical nursing care in a fast-paced surgical environment with a focus on post-anesthesia patients and same-day surgery (SDS) care. The role requires accountability, clinical expertise, and collaboration with surgical teams to ensure patient safety and quality care delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide nursing care for Post-Anesthesia Care patients while collaborating with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and surgical staff.
- Perform basic admission assessments for same-day surgery patients and start IVs as needed.
- Conduct medication reconciliation and discharge teaching, particularly for endocrine patients.
- Maintain clinical competencies and apply critical thinking in patient care decisions.
- Supervise and delegate care tasks to nursing support staff based on their skills and experience.
- Work in a Stage II environment with a patient population mostly comprised of outpatients.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Current RN license.
- Certification in BLS, ACLS, and PALS.
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, preferably in perioperative or PACU settings.
- Proficiency with EMR systems and clinical documentation.
- Ability to work efficiently in a team-oriented, dynamic environment.
- Strong understanding of diabetes management and postoperative care protocols.
Schedule and Call Details:
- Variable day shifts, typically between 6:00-7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday.
- Approximately 80% time dedicated to pre/post-surgical care and 20% in PACU.
- On-call rotation includes at least one weekday night shift (3:30 PM to 7:00 AM) per week and one weekend call every 4 weeks.
- Guaranteed 72 hours biweekly.
- No floating or block scheduling requirements.
