An opportunity is available for an experienced Registered Nurse skilled in Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) and Stepdown nursing to provide high-quality patient care in a dynamic surgical progressive care unit. This contract position is based in Salisbury, NC, with scheduling on 12-hour night shifts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage care for patients post-surgery, including those recovering from hepatic, pancreatic, and women’s surgeries.
  • Perform drain care, central line management, G/J tube care, and monitor cardiac rhythms.
  • Handle complex procedures including Heparin and cardiac drip management consistent with ACLS protocols.
  • Collaborate with CNAs, charge nurses, resource nurses, and IV/VAT teams to maintain a safe and effective care environment.
  • Utilize hospital technology such as Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Philips monitoring systems.
  • Participate in floating assignments within the hospital region as needed.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Current RN license with 18 months of progressive care unit experience.
  • BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required.
  • Strong clinical skills in cardiac rhythm interpretation, NGT placement, and postoperative care.
  • Ability to perform CNA duties including blood draws and Foley catheter management.
  • Comfortable working within a team-oriented culture on a well-established PCU unit.

Scheduling:

  • 12-hour night shifts (1845-0715)
  • Weekend rotations every other week
  • Travelers expected to work 75% of holidays
  • Schedule cycles every 6 weeks
