A nursing opportunity in behavioral health offers a dynamic environment working with diverse patient populations, including adult, pediatric, and geriatric units. This contract position is based in Holyoke, MA, at a well-established behavioral health hospital providing care for individuals facing challenges such as schizophrenia, depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, and substance use disorder.
The role involves working day shifts from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., with every other weekend off and no call requirements. You will float across five units serving 104 beds total, ensuring comprehensive care with patient ratios around 1:8, adjusting for pediatric and geriatric needs. The work environment uses Cerner for electronic health records, and you'll report to shift supervisors. The dress code calls for blue scrubs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality nursing care to behavioral health patients across adult, pediatric, and geriatric populations
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient-centered care plans
- Monitor patient progress and respond to changes in condition proactively
- Assist in managing psychiatric symptoms and administering medications appropriately
- Ensure accurate documentation in the Cerner electronic health record system
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Current RN license with at least 1 year of nursing experience
- BLS certification required
- Experience or strong interest in behavioral health nursing preferred
- Ability and willingness to care for diverse age groups, including geriatrics and pediatrics
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
