The role supports a 21-bed unit, with a patient ratio of approximately 2-3 RNs, supplemented by mental health technicians and a patient care assistant.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide nursing care for geriatric patients with acute psychiatric needs
  • Utilize behavioral health nursing skills to manage complex patient scenarios, focusing on de-escalation and safety
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members for comprehensive care planning
  • Document patient care accurately using Cerner EMR system
  • Adhere to dress code standards with designated scrub colors

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Current RN licensure with at least 2 years of behavioral health experience
  • BLS certification required
  • Experience in acute psych or geriatric psychiatry preferred
  • Familiarity with Cerner EMR and CPI techniques is a plus
  • Strong interpersonal skills with emphasis on patient de-escalation techniques
