Provide advanced nursing care in a progressive care unit specializing in step-down patients requiring close monitoring and skilled interventions. This role involves managing patients with complex but stable conditions such as syncope, pneumonia, sepsis, pulmonary embolism, controlled atrial fibrillation, transient ischemic attack, and gastrointestinal bleeding. Experience with Cerner documentation and electronic health record systems is essential. Flexibility to work night shifts and occasional 4th shifts is required to ensure comprehensive patient coverage.

Responsibilities:
- Deliver safe, efficient, and compassionate nursing care to patients in a progressive care unit setting
- Monitor patient status using advanced clinical assessment skills and respond appropriately to changes
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate effective care plans
- Maintain accurate documentation using Cerner electronic health records
- Adhere to hospital policies, protocols, and quality standards
- Work night shifts primarily (19:00 – 07:30), including three 12-hour shifts per week, with occasional 4th shift requirements
- Provide coverage during Christmas week and be available for two out of three major holidays, including Thanksgiving and New Year’s
Qualifications:
- Valid RN license with a minimum of 2 years’ progressive care or step-down nursing experience
- Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NIH
- Demonstrated proficiency in Cerner EHR systems
- Ability to work night shifts and weekends
- Strong clinical judgment and patient-focused care approach
- Flexibility to float within scope to meet facility needs
- Local candidates preferred; must be available for required holiday shifts
This contract role guarantees a minimum of 36 hours per week with a start date of November 18, 2025. First-time step-down nurses are encouraged to apply if they meet certification and skill requirements. References including leadership from recent assignments will be requested.
