A skilled Registered Nurse with step-down experience is needed to provide specialized care for general medical and oncology step-down patients. This role focuses on delivering high-quality nursing interventions including chemotherapy administration via IV and managing complex patient needs in a step-down unit environment.

Key responsibilities include monitoring patient vital signs using Welch Allyn vital sign towers, operating Sigma IV pumps, and documenting patient care accurately in EPIC. The nurse will provide comprehensive care while maintaining a patient ratio of approximately 1:4-6, with additional support staff to assist when ratios increase. The role involves floating to other medical-surgical areas such as acute units and the emergency room as needed to support patient care demands.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Current Michigan RN License
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association
  • Oncology Nursing Certification (ONCC) or Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) certification required; pending ONS will be considered
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in PCU/Step-down nursing
  • Proficient in chemotherapy administration via IV and initiating IVs
  • Experience with Welch Allyn vital signs equipment, Sigma IV pumps, and EPIC documentation system

Schedule and Shift Details:

  • Night shifts, three 12-hour shifts per week (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
  • Weekend shifts every other weekend, scheduled by manager
  • Block scheduling options available upon request
  • Floating assignments in various med-surg areas
