Deliver critical care within a multi-acuity stepdown unit that combines ICU, PCU, and med-surg patients in a single 10-bed setting. This role demands a skilled RN with strong clinical expertise in dysrhythmia recognition, cardiac monitoring, and titration of drips such as sedation, vasopressors, and insulin. Contract assignment located in Cottonwood, AZ, offering 12-hour shifts with a structured weekend and holiday schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and provide nursing care across three acuity levels: ICU, PCU, and med-surg within one unit.
- Administer and titrate drips based on patient needs and response.
- Participate in charge nurse duties when assigned, managing up to 50 inpatient beds across multiple units.
- Collaborate with Respiratory Therapists on vents, CPAP, and BiPAP use.
- Monitor cardiac rhythms, perform 12-lead EKGs, and interpret bedside cardiac monitors.
- Float within the facility’s MST, Pediatric, and West Campus ICU/PCU units as needed, with adequate notice.
- Maintain competency caring for diverse patient populations, including adult MST and pediatric patients as applicable.
- Adhere to hospital and unit-specific orientation and ongoing education requirements.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Current RN license.
- Minimum 2 years ICU experience; alternatively, 1 year ICU plus 1 year PCU/med-surg experience in larger facilities with demonstrated competency.
- Required certifications: BLS and ACLS.
- Ability to pass dysrhythmia exam within two attempts prior to contract finalization.
- No full-time, part-time, or PRN experience at any CommonSpirit-associated facility (including CHI/Dignity) within the past 12 months.
- Flexible to float within 50-mile radius facilities as required.
- Willingness to work a rotating holiday schedule and standby shifts for low census situations.
- Compliance with dress code: scrub colors allowed except camouflage.
Schedule:
- 12-hour shifts: 7:00 AM–7:00 PM or 7:30 PM–7:30 AM.
- Weekend rotation every other weekend.
- Holiday rotation to ensure fair distribution.
