An experienced registered nurse (RN) is sought for a cardiovascular stepdown unit specializing in postoperative cardiac surgery patient care. This contract position focuses on managing patients transitioning from ICU to stepdown care with a strong emphasis on cardiac telemetry and dysrhythmia management.

Responsibilities include overseeing cardiac surgery patients requiring telemetry, chest tube management, and monitoring for cardiac dysrhythmias. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes on a cardiovascular stepdown/telemetry unit.

Key Qualifications:

  • Active Virginia or Compact RN license at time of application
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications
  • Minimum of 2 years of RN experience
  • Demonstrated expertise in cardiac telemetry and stepdown nursing with hands-on experience managing chest tubes and dysrhythmias
  • Experience caring for cardiovascular stepdown (CVSD) patients in telemetry settings
  • Familiarity with EPIC clinical documentation system; training class assignment based on prior EPIC experience

Schedule & Location:

  • Night shifts, 3 twelve-hour shifts per week (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
  • Every other weekend required
  • Located in Fairfax, Virginia
  • Contract duration of approximately 13 weeks with an ASAP start, contingent on EPIC training

Additional Information: Flu vaccination is required during flu season (October to March), with religious or medical exemptions subject to agency and CMS guideline approval.
