Provide advanced nursing care in a dynamic Progressive Care Unit (PCU) environment, supporting patients with diverse and complex medical needs. This contract role is based in Kings Mountain, NC, offering the opportunity to work with a close-knit team focused on patient-centered care.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver essential nursing functions including monitoring and management of patients with stroke, pneumonia, cellulitis, failure to thrive, altered mental status, chest pain, atrial fibrillation, COPD, and more.
  • Manage cardiac rhythms, tracheostomies, chest tubes, wound care, blood products, and central lines proficiently.
  • Collaborate closely with CNAs, receptionists, charge nurses, phlebotomists, IV/vascular access teams, respiratory therapists, and hospitalists.
  • Utilize EPIC EMR and equipment such as Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, Phillips telemetry, and unit-specific fall prevention and positioning tools.
  • Float within the regional network as required, including to facilities in the Cleveland, Lincoln, and Central Division areas.
  • Participate in weekend rotations every other week, with no on-call duties and 75% holiday shift coverage.

Desired Experience and Qualifications:

  • Current RN licensure with BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications.
  • Minimum of 18 months progressive care nursing experience preferred; first-time travelers will be considered.
  • Strong skills in teamwork, communication, and critical care nursing functions.
  • Experience with telemetry, cardiac drip management, and interpreting cardiac rhythms.

Schedule & Shift Details:

  • 12-hour shifts, either 7 AM to 7 PM or 7 PM to 7 AM.
  • Weekend rotation every other weekend.
  • Orientation includes a 2-day department-specific onboarding.
  • Travelers receive paid time during mid-shift float travel between facilities.
