Stepdown Registered Nurse - Liberty, Missouri

An opportunity is available for a Registered Nurse experienced in stepdown care to support a dynamic medical-surgical unit in Liberty, MO. This contract role offers the chance to work in a fast-paced environment caring for post-cardiac, telemetry, neurological, and other complex patients. Key Responsibilities:

• Provide high-quality nursing care on stepdown units, including PCU, telemetry, neuro stepdown, and emergency holding areas.
• Perform cardiac monitoring, including dysrhythmia interpretation and emergency response.
• Manage cardiovascular patient care such as post-angiogram, post-cardiac surgery, and MI rehabilitation.
• Administer IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood products, and manage central and peripheral lines.
• Implement endocrine, gastrointestinal, renal, neurological, orthopedic, respiratory, and wound care protocols.
• Assist with patient education, rapid response activations, and participate in isolation precautions.
• Float flexibly between departments as needed to support overall unit staffing requirements.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience; prior charge nurse and teaching hospital experience preferred.
• Certifications in ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS required.
• Skilled in telemetry, cardiac monitoring, IV therapy, and critical care interventions.
• Experience with endocrinology protocols, post-operative care, respiratory support, and wound management.
• Ability to work 3 night shifts per 13-week schedule (12-hour shifts, 18:45–07:15).
• Must be willing to float across units and cover weekend shifts as part of an 8-shift requirement per 6-week schedule.

Schedule and Contract Details:

• Contract position with guaranteed hours (3 shifts per 13 weeks minimum).
• Night shift hours only.
• Floating to different units required.
