Deliver high-acuity care in a progressive care/stepdown unit focused on complex adult patients requiring ventilator support and multi-system management. This opportunity involves working 12-hour night shifts in a 28-bed unit that cares for critically ill patients including those with respiratory, renal, surgical, and trauma needs. Ideal candidates will demonstrate strong critical care nursing skills, ventilator experience, and comfort managing drips such as Cardizem and Amio. This contract position is based in Warren, OH, with a focus on delivering compassionate, evidence-based care in a fast-paced environment.
Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Current RN license with compact state coverage or Ohio licensure
- Minimum 1 year nursing experience; strong preference for acute care or ICU stepdown experience
- Ventilator experience required; familiarity with tracheostomies, BiPAP, CPAP, High Flow, Airvo
- Experience managing insulin drips and cardiac medications (Cardizem, Amio)
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Certification preferred; CCRN or PCCN highly desirable
- Proficient in clinical judgment, patient assessment, and nursing process implementation
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to communicate effectively to patients and interdisciplinary team
- Ability to adapt promptly to rapidly changing patient conditions and emergencies
Responsibilities:
- Execute comprehensive assessments, develop and implement individualized care plans
- Administer medications safely and monitor patient responses
- Coordinate care among multiple departments and serve as patient advocate
- Manage high-acuity patients including those with multi-organ failure or trauma
- Serve as resource and educator for nursing staff and caregivers
- Ensure compliance with quality improvement and safety standards
- Document nursing activities accurately using electronic health records
