Job Description: As an Occupational Therapist, you will play a crucial role in helping students develop the skills necessary to participate in daily activities and succeed in their academic environment. You will assess, plan, and implement individualized therapy interventions, focusing on enhancing students' fine motor skills, sensory integration, self-care abilities, and overall independence. Working collaboratively with educators, parents, and other professionals, you will provide support and recommendations to facilitate students' functional abilities and overall educational success.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations to assess students' functional abilities, identifying areas for improvement and setting appropriate goals.
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on evaluation findings, student goals, and evidence-based practice.
- Provide direct occupational therapy services to students individually or in small groups, targeting specific functional needs.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other team members to integrate therapy goals and strategies into the classroom and educational environment.
- Monitor and document student progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary.
- Provide training and support to teachers, parents, and caregivers regarding strategies and techniques to promote functional independence.
- Stay updated on the latest research, advancements, and best practices in the field of occupational therapy.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
- Current licensure or eligibility for licensure as an Occupational Therapist in Louisiana.
- Experience or strong interest in working with school-aged children is preferred.
- Sound knowledge of pediatric occupational therapy, assessment tools, and evidence-based intervention techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with students, parents, teachers, and other professionals.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team in an educational setting.
