We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Occupational Therapist to join our team at a school in Leonardtown, MD. The ideal candidate will be passionate about helping children overcome developmental, physical, and emotional challenges to reach their full potential. As a School Occupational Therapist, you will play a crucial role in supporting students' participation in school activities, promoting independence, and facilitating their overall well-being.

For this opportunity, you will be working primarily with infant and toddler populations. 

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of students' motor skills, sensory processing, and functional abilities.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans tailored to each student's unique needs, in collaboration with teachers, parents, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Provide direct occupational therapy services to students in both individual and group settings, focusing on improving fine motor skills, handwriting, sensory integration, and activities of daily living.
  • Implement evidence-based interventions and therapeutic activities to enhance students' academic performance, social skills, and self-regulation.
  • Collaborate with teachers and staff to integrate therapeutic strategies into the classroom environment, including providing recommendations for adaptive equipment and environmental modifications.
  • Monitor students' progress regularly and adjust treatment plans as necessary to ensure continued growth and achievement of therapy goals.
  • Educate and empower parents and caregivers by providing resources, strategies, and training to support their child's therapy needs at home.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of therapy sessions, progress reports, and communication with stakeholders, ensuring compliance with legal and professional standards.
  • Stay current with developments in the field of pediatric occupational therapy through continuing education, workshops, and professional development opportunities.


Qualifications:

  • Master's degree (or higher) in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Current license to practice as an Occupational Therapist in the state of Maryland.
  • Certification by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
  • Experience working with pediatric populations, preferably in a school or educational setting.
  • Strong knowledge of developmental milestones, sensory processing disorders, and therapeutic techniques for children with diverse needs.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams, parents, and community partners.
  • Compassionate, patient-centered approach to therapy, with a genuine passion for working with children and promoting their well-being.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time efficiently, and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced school environment.
  • Proficiency in utilizing assessment tools, technology, and electronic medical records for documentation and data tracking.
