Job Description: We are currently seeking two Occupational Therapists (OTs) for full-time positions in Topeka, KS. The positions are available for the duration of the school year, from August 1, 2023, to May 23, 2024. As an OT, you will work with students in grades K-12, helping them develop and improve the skills necessary for independent functioning in school and daily life activities.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments to evaluate students' motor skills, sensory processing, and functional abilities.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other members of the educational team to develop individualized education plans (IEPs) that address students' specific needs.
- Provide direct occupational therapy services to students, including therapeutic exercises, sensory integration activities, and assistive technology recommendations.
- Monitor and document students' progress, adjusting intervention plans as necessary.
- Educate and train teachers, parents, and other staff members on strategies to support students' occupational therapy goals within the classroom setting.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including documentation of evaluations, treatment sessions, and progress reports.
Qualifications:
- Must hold a valid Occupational Therapist license in the state of Kansas.
- Previous experience working in a school setting is preferred, but new graduates are also encouraged to apply.
- Knowledge of pediatric occupational therapy principles, assessments, and intervention strategies.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, parents, teachers, and other professionals.
- Ability to prioritize and manage a caseload, ensuring timely delivery of services and adherence to IEP goals.
