Job Description:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Occupational Therapist to join our team on a full-time basis. As an Occupational Therapist, you will work directly with students in educational settings, promoting their ability to participate in daily activities and reach their academic and functional goals. You will have the opportunity to assess, plan, and implement individualized interventions that address the unique needs of each student.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough evaluations to assess students' functional abilities and identify areas for intervention.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to develop individualized treatment plans.
- Implement evidence-based interventions to improve students' motor skills, sensory processing, self-care, and social participation.
- Provide direct occupational therapy services to students in individual or group settings.
- Monitor and document students' progress, adjusting treatment plans as needed.
- Offer training and support to teachers and staff on strategies to promote students' independence and participation.
- Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and contribute to the development of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Stay up-to-date with the latest research, trends, and best practices in occupational therapy.
Qualifications:
- A valid license to practice occupational therapy in New Mexico.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution.
- Experience working in a school-based setting is preferred, but new graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Strong knowledge of child development, sensory integration, and evidence-based therapeutic interventions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with students, parents, teachers, and colleagues.
- Ability to work independently, manage a caseload, and prioritize tasks.
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of students and educational settings.
