Soliant is currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 School Nurse to join our team for the 2023/2024 school year in New Jersey. As a 1:1 School Nurse, you will provide essential healthcare support to an individual student with specific medical needs, ensuring their safety, well-being, and successful integration into the school environment.
Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to an assigned student with specific medical needs, following the student's Individualized Healthcare Plan (IHP).
- Administer medication, treatments, and procedures as prescribed by the student's healthcare provider.
- Monitor the student's vital signs, observe and document their health status, and report any significant changes to appropriate personnel.
- Maintain accurate medical records, including documentation of student assessments, treatments provided, and communication with parents/guardians and healthcare providers.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other healthcare professionals to create a supportive and inclusive educational environment for the student.
- Develop and implement health education programs to promote wellness, disease prevention, and safe practices within the school community.
- Educate and train school staff on the student's healthcare needs, emergency protocols, and appropriate responses to medical situations.
- Foster positive relationships with parents/guardians, actively involving them in their child's healthcare management and providing regular updates on their progress.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical and professional standards in accordance with the Nursing Code of Conduct.
Qualifications:
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of New Jersey.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree preferred.
- Experience working as a school nurse or in a pediatric healthcare setting is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of child and adolescent health issues, chronic medical conditions, and special healthcare needs.
- Familiarity with relevant state and federal regulations governing school health services.
- Ability to effectively communicate with students, parents/guardians, school staff, and healthcare professionals.
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
- CPR/AED certification and other relevant healthcare certifications.
