Pathologist needed for Buffalo, NY
Job Description: We are currently seeking a skilled Pathologist Assistant for a travel position in Buffalo, NY. This exciting opportunity is available for a 13-week assignment, with a Monday through Friday shift (9a-6:30p or 10a-6:30p), allowing you to enjoy your weekends off. The Pathologist Assistant will play a crucial role in the pathology department, working closely with pathologists and peers to provide high-quality diagnostic services. A New York State (NYS) licensure is required, and candidates with experience may be eligible for a Limited Permit, while others should have their license in hand before starting.
Unit Details: In this role, you can expect an average specimen count of around 20 gross examinations per day. You will be actively involved in frozen section procedures and will have the opportunity to consult with pathologists and colleagues on casework. Dictation will be done using Voicebrook PRO, ensuring efficient and accurate reporting. It's important to note that there will be no autopsy responsibilities in this position.
Equipment: As a Pathologist Assistant, you should be comfortable working in a mopec grossing bay and be proficient in using typical grossing equipment such as scalpels, etc. The Laboratory Information System (LIS) utilized will be Cerner Millennium Pathnet, rather than Copath, and familiarity with a Leica Cassette printer is desired.
Specific Experience: The ideal candidate will have experience in various areas, including breast pathology, women's health pathology, biopsies, gastrointestinal (GI) cases, placenta examinations, and frozen sections. Your expertise in these areas will contribute to the accurate and timely diagnosis and treatment planning for patients.
