Soliant is seeking a Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) for our client’s 503B facility in Houston, TX. The PIC will play a crucial role in ensuring adherence to the pharmacy’s standard operating procedures and policies. They will directly supervise pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and cleanroom staff. The PIC will work closely with the Director of Operations to achieve production goals, oversee investigations, and assist with daily operational pharmacy duties. They will also monitor training and collaborate with the Quality department to ensure up-to-date training. The PIC will have oversight of pre-production, cleanroom operations, and post-production activities.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Maintain state pharmacy license(s) in TX, OH, OK, KS, MS, AL, LA (candidates with licenses in some but not all states are still encouraged to apply)
  • Directly supervise staff pharmacists, pre-production, cleanroom, and post-production staff
  • Execute opening and closing activities, either directly or through delegation
  • Collaborate with the Director of Operations to create, track, and meet production schedules
  • Identify and address trends or issues causing production delays or batch discards
  • Represent the Pharmacy department in state and federal regulatory audits, visits, and communication
  • Review batch records and associated documentation
  • Possess a strong understanding of cGMP standards and their importance
  • Assist in the documentation and completion of Adverse Drug Event forms
  • Hire, monitor, and terminate employees as necessary with the approval of the Director of Operations
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws governing pharmacy practice
  • Regularly communicate with all staff through meetings
  • Obtain licenses in all states requiring the Pharmacist in Charge to take exams (travel expenses, exam costs, and annual license renewal costs covered by Wells)
  • Demonstrate expert knowledge of DEA, FDA, and state regulations related to manufacturing and handling of controlled substances
  • Have no allergies to chemicals used during compounding
  • Perform other duties assigned from time to time or common for the position
  • Compound pharmaceuticals as needed

Education & Experience:

  • Graduate of an accredited College of Pharmacy
  • Active pharmacy license issued by the State of TX Board of Pharmacy in good standing
  • Minimum of two (2) years of aseptic sterile compounding experience
