A direct hire opportunity is available for a Clinical Pharmacist specializing in emergency department care, located in Amarillo, TX. This role demands expertise in clinical pharmacy within hospital inpatient and emergency room settings, offering an engaging environment where advanced technology supports high-quality patient care.

Schedule:

  • 10-hour night shifts
  • Rotating weekends

Responsibilities include providing comprehensive pharmaceutical care to emergency department patients by collaborating closely with physicians, nurses, and healthcare teams. This position requires rapid assessment and management of critically ill patients, including trauma and resuscitation cases. Duties also encompass medication reconciliation, preparation and dispensing of medications per hospital protocols, participation in emergency responses such as stroke and cardiac alerts, patient and professional education, monitoring for adverse drug reactions, and contributing to quality improvement and research. The role also involves preceptorship responsibilities for pharmacy students and oversight of medication history pharmacy technicians.

Qualifications:

  • B.S. or Pharm.D. from an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy
  • Active Pharmacist license in good standing with the appropriate State Board of Pharmacy
  • Compliance with other state requirements, including sterile compounding as applicable
  • BLS, ALS, and PALS certifications obtained within 90 days of hire Preferred:
  • Completion of PGY2 residency in emergency medicine or critical care, or PGY1 residency with relevant emergency/critical care experience, or equivalent practical experience
