A Clinical Pharmacist role is available in an inpatient hospital setting, supporting multiple departments including Intensive Care, Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics, Nursery, Emergency Department, and Ambulatory Infusion Center. This position involves active participation in a multidisciplinary patient care team, with responsibilities ranging from direct patient care and prescriber order verification to the development and assessment of medication-related programs and policies. The role also includes involvement in hospital committees, education, competency assessments, precepting pharmacy students, and managing the medication formulary. Onsite clinical coverage is required every fourth weekend.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with medical staff, nurses, and pharmacy teams to optimize medication management across various hospital units
  • Develop order sets and assess compliance with clinical guidelines
  • Conduct medication usage evaluations and contribute to policy development
  • Participate in hospital committees and staff education initiatives
  • Precept pharmacy students and conduct competency assessments
  • Verify prescriber orders with accuracy and efficiency
  • Provide onsite clinical pharmacy coverage every 4th weekend

Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree or Bachelor of Science with relevant hospital experience or PGY1 residency
  • Eligibility for Virginia pharmacy licensure
  • Pharmacy Board Certification is encouraged
  • Strong communication skills and clinical practice experience preferred
