An opportunity is available for a Pharmacy Manager / Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) to oversee and lead pharmacy operations within a specialty pharmacy setting. This role requires a proactive professional skilled in managing medication safety, regulatory compliance, and interdepartmental collaboration to support optimal patient care. The position is located onsite at a facility in Nellis Air Force Base, NV, with a contract duration initially set for 13 weeks, with the possibility to extend to 26 weeks or convert to a permanent role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage prescription review, verification, dispensing, and adherence to regulatory standards including State Board of Pharmacy, FDA, DEA, URAC, and ACHC.
- Provide expert patient counseling and medication therapy management focused on specialty disease states.
- Supervise and mentor pharmacy technicians and interns to ensure efficient pharmacy operations.
- Collaborate closely with Intake, Referral Services, Nursing/Clinical teams, Reimbursement, and Pharmacy Operations for seamless prescription onboarding and fulfillment.
- Maintain accurate pharmacy records, support documentation processes, and lead quality assurance initiatives.
- Participate in an on-call weekend rotation as part of the schedule.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Active pharmacist license in Massachusetts (required), with preferred Connecticut license or willingness to obtain shortly after hire.
- Bachelor of Science or PharmD degree from an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in specialty, infusion, hospital, or similar pharmacy environments; retail-only backgrounds are not suitable.
- Strong understanding of specialty therapies, patient qualification, and payer requirements.
- Proven supervisory experience working with pharmacy technicians.
- Familiarity with pharmacy software, preferably CareTend, and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Schedule:
- Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Weekend on-call rotation required.
