This opportunity is for experienced Certified Pharmacy Technicians with specialized expertise in specialty pharmacy settings. The role centers on handling rare and orphan drugs used to treat patients with uncommon diseases. Candidates will provide essential support by navigating coverage, prior authorizations, and access challenges related to these high-cost medications.
You will be working within a specialty pharmacy environment, utilizing McKesson Enterprise (ERx) systems, where communication between providers and patients is frequent and requires strong clinical insight as well as excellent communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage Benefit, Coverage, and Access responsibilities including Prior Authorizations for specialty medications
- Collaborate closely with patients and healthcare providers to facilitate approval and dispensing of rare/orphan drugs
- Assist with financial programs such as grants, rebates, and patient assistance programs designed to alleviate medication costs
- Utilize McKesson Enterprise (ERx) system effectively for specialty pharmacy operations
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Active and clear AZ pharmacy technician license with national certification in good standing
- Proven experience specifically in a specialty pharmacy or specialty PBM environment; retail pharmacy experience alone will not be considered
- Familiarity with managing rare/orphan drugs and related coverage complexities
- Strong communication skills and a high level of clinical knowledge
- Specialty pharmacy references demonstrating expertise, including specific disease states, are required

Schedule: Monday through Friday, daytime shifts
Job Type: Contract (13 weeks) with potential for contract-to-hire
Candidates with a demonstrated background in designated specialty retail, specialty mail order, and specialty PBM pharmacy settings will be considered ideal.
