A well-established pharmacy in Providence, RI, is seeking a knowledgeable staff pharmacist for a 13-week contract position starting ASAP. This role requires an experienced pharmacist capable of managing long-term care prescriptions and ensuring the highest level of patient care and compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Accepting and dispensing prescription medications accurately
- Monitoring patient medication compliance and identifying overuse patterns
- Ensuring legal compliance in medicine supply and verifying prescriptions for suitability
- Maintaining confidential patient records and pharmacy files with precision
- Advising patients on medication usage, potential reactions, and answering questions
- Providing consultations on both prescription and non-prescription medications, including dosage, side effects, and drug interactions
- Offering additional patient services such as smoking cessation support, blood pressure monitoring, and cholesterol management
- Educating patients on proper use of medical devices like blood pressure monitors and glucose meters
- Compounding medications for internal or external use and preparing sterile solutions according to established protocols
- Supervising pharmacy staff, including pharmacy technicians and clerks
- Managing inventory of pharmaceutical and medical supplies effectively
- Collaborating closely with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and pharmacy interns to address drug-related issues
Qualifications:
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree required
- Valid Rhode Island pharmacist license must be held at the time of application
- Prior IV preparation experience essential
- Strong knowledge of long-term care pharmacy practices
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
Schedule:
- Monday through Friday with a mix of day and evening shifts
