Job Description: School TVI is seeking a qualified and dedicated Teacher of the Visually Impaired for the upcoming 2023-2024 school year. The position is full time and will be based in Pittsfield, MA. As a TVI, you will be responsible for providing instruction and support to students with visual impairments, enabling them to access the curriculum and achieve their educational goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with visual impairments.
  • Provide direct instruction to students in various educational settings, including inclusive classrooms, resource rooms, and one-on-one sessions.
  • Utilize specialized instructional techniques, materials, and technologies to accommodate students' visual needs.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, parents, and other professionals to ensure the integration of visually impaired students into the school community.
  • Conduct assessments and evaluations to determine students' needs and progress.
  • Provide training and support to classroom teachers and staff on strategies for supporting visually impaired students.
  • Stay updated on current best practices, research, and technologies related to teaching students with visual impairments.

Qualifications:

  • Valid teaching license/certification in the area of Visual Impairments.
  • Preference will be given to candidates who are licensed in Massachusetts.
  • Candidates licensed outside of Massachusetts will be considered, but must be able to apply for reciprocity.
  • Experience working with students with visual impairments is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of specialized instructional techniques and technologies for visually impaired students.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, parents, and other professionals.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Passion for working with students with visual impairments and helping them achieve their full potential.
