Remote Deaf/Hard of Hearing Teacher - Illinois, 2023/2024 School-Year

Are you a passionate educator dedicated to empowering deaf and hard of hearing students? Do you possess the skills and experience to provide effective remote instruction? If so, Soliant has an exciting opportunity for you! We are seeking a Remote Deaf/Hard of Hearing Teacher to join our team for the 2023/2024 school-year, delivering high-quality education remotely to students within a partner school district in Illinois.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide remote instruction to deaf and hard of hearing students in accordance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Develop and implement engaging and accessible lesson plans, utilizing various instructional strategies and resources
  • Adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse learning needs of students, ensuring a supportive and inclusive learning environment
  • Utilize appropriate assistive technologies and resources to enhance student learning and communication
  • Collaborate with parents, caregivers, and other professionals to support student progress and address individual needs
  • Monitor student progress, provide constructive feedback, and assess learning outcomes effectively
  • Foster a positive and respectful classroom culture that promotes student engagement and motivation
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in remote education and deaf/hard of hearing instruction

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related field (Master's degree preferred)
  • Valid teaching certification in Deaf Education or Special Education (Illinois PEL required)
  • Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) is preferred and excellent communication skills
  • Experience working with deaf and hard of hearing students, preferably in a remote or online learning environment
  • Knowledge of assistive technologies and resources for deaf and hard of hearing students
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to effectively manage a remote classroom
  • High level of adaptability, flexibility, and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficient computer skills and familiarity with virtual learning platforms and tools

Note: This is a 1099 contract position, and compensation will be commensurate with experience. 

Training and unlimited ZOOM platform, toolkit, tech and clinical team support are provided by Soliant/VocoVision. 

Compensation: 

  • 1099 contracted position for the 2023/24 school year.
  • Contract renewals are available if desired.
  • Hourly rate, negotiable based on qualifications and experience of applicant.
  • Paid for all hours worked.
  • Weekly pay, every Friday.
  • Guaranteed hours while school is in session.
