Job Description: As a Virtual Sign Language Interpreter, you will play a vital role in ensuring that students with hearing impairments have the same educational opportunities as their peers. You will work remotely to provide sign language interpretation services for students in our school district, facilitating effective communication between students, teachers, and staff.
- Interpret classroom instruction and discussions into American Sign Language (ASL) for students with hearing impairments.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment for students.
- Collaborate with teachers and educational staff to ensure students' needs are met.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
- Attend virtual meetings and training sessions as required.
- Bachelor's degree in Sign Language Interpretation or a related field.
- Valid certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (e.g., RID certification).
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and a strong understanding of Deaf culture.
- Previous experience in educational settings is preferred but not required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a virtual environment.
