A respiratory therapist is responsible for providing respiratory care services to patients in a hospital setting, ensuring effective treatment and monitoring of respiratory conditions. This position requires proficiency in mechanical ventilation, medicated aerosol delivery, airway clearance therapy, patient monitoring, oxygen and humidity therapy, and various specialized procedures such as CPR, bronchoscopy, and patient transport.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage mechanical ventilation and ensure patient stabilization.
- Administer medicated aerosol treatments and facilitate airway clearance.
- Monitor patient respiratory status and adjust therapies as needed.
- Provide oxygen and humidity therapy tailored to individual patient requirements.
- Assist with special procedures including CPR, specialty gases, bronchoscopy, and transport.
- Comply with all institutional policies and professional standards.
- Maintain the confidentiality and security of Protected Health Information (PHI).
Qualifications:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Respiratory Therapy.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license valid in Ohio.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, pushing, pulling up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Strong communication skills with continuous engagement in patient care.
- Capacity to work efficiently with minimal supervision following orientation.
