Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Grosse Pointe, Michigan

A skilled Respiratory Therapist is needed for a contract position in Grosse Pointe, MI, specializing in critical illness and rehabilitation care. This role focuses on delivering intensive respiratory therapy and patient transport services with minimal supervision, ensuring comprehensive treatment within the licensed scope of practice.

Responsibilities include evaluating patients, developing treatment plans, and educating patients about procedures and equipment. The therapist will perform physician-prescribed ventilatory treatments using invasive and non-invasive equipment and administer oxygen, aerosol medications, and humidification. Additional duties involve chest physiotherapy, various suctioning techniques, oximetry and capnography monitoring, and routine chest x-ray review to assist in clinical decision-making.

The position requires proficiency in performing 12-lead EKGs, pulmonary function tests, tracheostomy care, arterial puncture, and assisting with respiratory-related procedures such as bronchoscopy and chest tube placement. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation following BLS and ACLS guidelines and endotracheal tube management are essential skills for this role.
