A respiratory care professional is needed to provide high-quality intensive respiratory therapy and patient transport within a specialized rehabilitation setting. This contract role allows for application of advanced respiratory skills under minimal supervision, treating patients with varying levels of respiratory support needs. The ideal candidate will evaluate patients and recommend effective treatment plans, while educating patients on therapy purpose and procedures for home care.
Responsibilities include administering physician-prescribed respiratory treatments using invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizers. The role involves performing chest physiotherapy and suctioning, monitoring oxygenation through oximetry and capnography, and reviewing diagnostic chest X-rays. The therapist will also conduct pulmonary function studies, perform 12-lead EKGs, and assist in bronchoscopy and chest tube-related procedures. Tracheostomy care and arterial puncture are critical skills for this role, along with mechanical ventilation setup, maintenance, and monitoring. Documentation, communication with physicians, and maintaining equipment are essential duties.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license required
- Certified Respiratory Therapist preferred
- Demonstrated experience with invasive and non-invasive ventilation
- Proficiency in arterial blood gas analysis and pulmonary function testing
- Knowledge of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (BLS and ACLS)
- Ability to operate and troubleshoot respiratory equipment
