We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide exceptional 1:1 support for a student with seizures in a school setting. As an LPN, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and safety of the student, administering necessary medications, and responding effectively to any medical emergencies that may arise during school hours.
Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized care and support to a student with seizures, ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being throughout the school day.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by the student's healthcare provider, adhering to proper dosage and timing.
- Monitor the student's condition and response to medications, documenting observations accurately and promptly.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive health care plan in collaboration with the student's healthcare team, including the student's parents/guardians and school staff.
- Stay updated on the student's medical history, specific needs, and individualized care plan to provide optimal support.
- Recognize and respond promptly to any seizure activity or related emergencies, implementing appropriate interventions and following established protocols.
- Accompany the student on school bus to ensure their safety during transportation, adhering to all safety regulations and providing necessary medical support if needed.
- Communicate effectively with the student's parents/guardians, teachers, and school administration regarding the student's health status, progress, and any concerns or changes in their condition.
- Collaborate with other members of the school health team, including nurses, teachers, counselors, and administrators, to create a supportive and inclusive environment for the student.
Requirements:
- Valid and current LPN license in Rhode Island.
- Previous experience working with students with seizures or in a pediatric healthcare setting is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of seizure management and first aid techniques, with the ability to remain calm and act swiftly during emergency situations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with students, parents/guardians, and school staff.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to all relevant privacy laws and regulations.
- Flexibility to adapt to the unique needs and schedule of the student and school environment.
