Job Summary:
Soliant is seeking a School Nurse to work with a school district in the Salem, Oregon area for the 2023/2024 school year. As a School Nurse, you will play a vital role in promoting the health and well-being of students, providing medical care, health education, and support to the school community. Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to students with acute illnesses, chronic conditions, or injuries, ensuring their physical and emotional well-being.
- Assess and triage students' health concerns, providing appropriate care and referrals as necessary.
- Administer medications, treatments, and first aid according to medical orders and protocols.
- Collaborate with parents, guardians, teachers, and administrators to develop individualized healthcare plans for students with special medical needs.
- Monitor and manage students' chronic health conditions, such as asthma, diabetes, and allergies, in collaboration with healthcare providers.
- Maintain accurate and confidential student health records, including immunization records, medical history, and medication administration logs.
- Educate students, families, and staff on health-related topics, including disease prevention, healthy lifestyle choices, and first aid.
- Participate in health screenings, immunization programs, and health promotion initiatives within the school.
- Respond to medical emergencies and provide immediate care as needed, following established protocols.
- Collaborate with community healthcare providers, agencies, and resources to support student health needs.
- Stay updated on current healthcare practices, regulations, and best practices in school nursing.
Qualifications:
- Current registered nurse (RN) licensure in the state of Oregon.
- Previous experience working as a nurse in a school or pediatric setting is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of pediatric health care, including common medical conditions, medications, and treatments.
- Excellent assessment and critical thinking skills to identify and respond to health-related concerns promptly.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with students, parents, healthcare providers, and school staff.
- Ability to work independently and make sound judgments in managing the student's healthcare needs.
- Proficient in maintaining accurate and organized medical documentation.
- CPR and First Aid certification.
- Familiarity with relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards related to school nursing and student health.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
