School-Based Occupational Therapist (OT)

Position Overview:
We are looking for a dynamic Occupational Therapist (OT) to work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team to support the diverse needs of our students. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive occupational therapy services to students from preschool through high school, focusing on promoting independence and participation in school-based activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct assessments to evaluate students' motor skills, sensory processing, visual perception, and self-care abilities.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans and goals in collaboration with the student's educational team and family.
  • Implement evidence-based therapeutic interventions to address fine motor skills, gross motor skills, visual-motor integration, sensory processing, and activities of daily living.
  • Provide direct therapy services in individual or group settings, as determined by student needs and IEP goals.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other educational professionals to integrate therapeutic strategies into the classroom and home environments.
  • Monitor student progress, document therapy sessions, and maintain accurate records in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development of students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Provide consultation, training, and support to teachers and staff regarding sensory strategies, assistive technology, and environmental modifications.
  • Stay informed about best practices, research trends, and advancements in the field of occupational therapy, and integrate new knowledge into practice.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program (for Occupational Therapist).
  • Valid state license or certification to practice as an Occupational Therapist or Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant.
  • Previous experience working in a school-based or pediatric setting is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Knowledge of educational laws and regulations, including IDEA and Section 504, pertaining to the provision of occupational therapy services in school settings.
