We are looking to hire a Social Worker for this school year near Annandale, Virgina. The Social Worker will assist the schools in a flourishing district.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serves as the agency designated reporter of child abuse/neglect for the district; assesses child abuse/neglect allegations by individuals that include, but are not limited to, parents, guardians, relatives, family friends, and district employees
  • Provides casework assessment and services to students and their families
  • Works with schools to implement attendance programs and support compliance of the compulsory attendance law; Prepares and files educational neglect and truancy petitions; Attends all court hearings on petitions filed
  • Assists parents and students with referrals to community agencies and resources
  • Maintains case records and related statistical data, demonstrating knowledge of various student information and software programs
  • Submits accurate monthly reports electronically on school social work services provided at each assigned school
  • Solicits the aid of community agencies and resources to provide tangible needs to the individual student and his/her family
  • Works with parents and children in a confidential and caring manner and assists the family, school, and community in any way required to bridge gaps between family and school
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator
  • Education and Experience

  • Master's Degree in School Social Work (required)
  • Certification/Licensure:

  • Must hold LCSW, LMSW or MSW (or able to obtain)
  • Minimum Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of norms of behavior at stages in a child's growth and development as affected by chronological age
  • Knowledge of laws which affect children such as child labor, guardianship, custody, and compulsory school attendance
  • Ability to develop and maintain good relationships with community agencies
  • Must be able to successfully manage multiple tasks, projects, and responsibilities
  • Must be able to collaborate effectively with district personnel in a multi-disciplinary team
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
