APE Teacher - Mchenry, IL

Seeking an Adaptive Physical Education Teacher for a K-12 school in McHenry, IL, to support students requiring tailored physical education programs. This contract position spans the current school year (CSY) and offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on diverse learners by promoting physical activity adapted to their individual needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement individualized physical education plans accommodating various disabilities and abilities.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, therapists, and parents to ensure appropriate support for students.
• Assess student progress and adjust activities to promote skill development and physical wellness.
• Maintain accurate records and comply with school and district guidelines.
• Utilize specialized equipment and adaptive techniques to facilitate inclusive participation.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Certification or licensure in Physical Education with specialization or training in adaptive physical education.
• Experience working with K-12 students of varying abilities, including those with physical, developmental, or learning challenges.
• Knowledge of individualized education programs (IEPs) and related educational frameworks.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with students, families, and school staff.
• Ability to create a safe, encouraging, and inclusive environment for all students.
