A specialized opportunity is available for an Adaptive Physical Education Teacher to support K-12 students during a maternity leave coverage. This contract position runs from early February through June, providing essential adaptive physical education services within a dynamic school setting.
Location: Saint Paul, MN
Duration: February 6 (or earlier) to June 10
Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week
Caseload: Approximately 65 students receiving a combination of direct and indirect services
Work Setting: Four days per week onsite and one day per week supporting an online program
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver adaptive physical education instruction tailored to accommodate diverse student needs ranging from direct classroom activities to consultative services
- Conduct assessments and testing based on adaptive physical education licensure standards
- Collaborate with educational staff to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and adaptive curricula
- Provide documentation, manage special education forms, and support evaluation processes
- Utilize knowledge of special education regulations and adaptive physical education requirements to enhance student participation and progress
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid Minnesota Adaptive Physical Education (DAPE) license required
- Experience working with K-12 students in adaptive physical education programs
- Familiarity with special education forms, evaluations, and DAPE testing procedures
- Strong organizational skills for managing a caseload with mixed service delivery models
- Ability to work effectively both in-person and remotely with online programs
