An opportunity is available for a skilled Audiologist to provide essential services in a K-12 school setting located in Opelousas, LA. This contract role is designed for professionals passionate about making a meaningful impact on students' lives through comprehensive audiological care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct hearing screenings and assessments for students across various grade levels.
- Perform diagnostic evaluations and interpret hearing test results.
- Develop individualized treatment plans for students with hearing loss or auditory processing disorders.
- Recommend classroom accommodations and assistive technology, such as hearing aids and FM systems.
- Collaborate with special education teams, speech-language pathologists, and teachers to support students' needs.
- Provide counseling and support to students and families regarding hearing loss and auditory health.
- Educate staff on hearing loss awareness and best practices for supporting students with hearing needs.
- Monitor and maintain hearing equipment, ensuring proper functionality and fit for students.
- Document assessments, treatment plans, and progress reports following district policies and regulations.
Qualifications:
- Master’s or Doctoral degree in Audiology from an accredited program.
- Current state licensure as an Audiologist.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) is preferred.
- Experience working with school-aged children is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of hearing assessment procedures and assistive technology.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with diverse teams.
- Ability to provide professional development and training to staff and families.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Capacity to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
