Autism Spectrum Disorder Specialist in Edison, NJ

A rewarding opportunity is available for an experienced Special Education and Autism Specialist to support middle school students during a maternity leave contract. This role focuses on providing targeted instruction and support to students in grades 6 through 8, ensuring their social, emotional, and academic development within a supportive learning environment. The assignment runs from October 27th, 2025, through March 13th, 2026.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver specialized instruction tailored to students with autism and diverse learning needs.
• Manage a caseload of middle school students (grades 6-8), implementing individualized education plans (IEPs).
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to promote inclusive educational practices.
• Monitor student progress and adjust strategies to optimize learning outcomes.
• Maintain accurate documentation and participate in team meetings to support student development.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

• Certification or proven experience as an Autism Specialist and/or Special Education Teacher.
• Strong understanding of strategies and interventions effective for students with autism spectrum disorder.
• Previous experience working with middle school-aged students.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.

Location: Edison, NJ (Middle School Setting)
