Behavioral Specialist in School Setting - Newark, Delaware

A K-12 school in Newark, DE is seeking a skilled Behavior Specialist to provide targeted support and intervention strategies for students exhibiting challenging behaviors. This contract role for the current school year requires a professional who can collaborate with educators and families to promote positive behavioral outcomes and a supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct functional behavior assessments and develop individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs)
• Provide direct support and coaching to students demonstrating behavioral difficulties
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to implement effective strategies
• Monitor and document student progress and adjust plans as necessary
• Offer training and resources on behavior management techniques to school staff
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to address student needs

Qualifications:

• Experience working in K-12 educational settings as a Behavior Specialist or similar role
• Strong knowledge of applied behavior analysis (ABA) principles and behavior intervention frameworks
• Ability to assess behavioral challenges and design appropriate interventions
• Excellent communication skills for working with students, staff, and families
• Familiarity with special education laws and individualized education programs (IEPs) is preferred
• Relevant certifications or licensure in behavior analysis or special education are advantageous
