This full-semester contract position is based in Lead, South Dakota, supporting a K-12 school environment. The role involves providing direct nursing care to a student with special healthcare needs, ensuring their safety and well-being throughout the school day.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver nursing care according to the student’s individualized healthcare plan (IHP).
- Administer medications, monitor medical devices, and perform medical procedures such as tracheostomy care, seizure response, and feeding tube assistance.
- Continuously assess the student’s condition and respond promptly to emergencies.
- Maintain detailed and accurate health records in compliance with district and state regulations.
- Collaborate with school personnel, special education teams, and parents or guardians to facilitate the student’s educational access.
- Accompany the student on the bus and during school activities, if required.
- Adhere to confidentiality and HIPAA standards at all times.
Qualifications:
- Current South Dakota RN, LPN, or CNA license in good standing.
- Current CPR/BLS certification.
- Physical ability to lift, transfer, or assist the student as needed. Preferred:
- Experience working with children or within a school setting.
- Background in caring for medically fragile or special needs students.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
Location:
- Lead, South Dakota
Schedule & Compensation:
- Monday through Friday during school hours, following the academic calendar.
- Competitive hourly pay based on licensure level.
