School Nurse Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) - Whitewood, South Dakota

Located in Whitewood, South Dakota, this full-semester contract position offers a rewarding opportunity to provide specialized nursing care in a K-12 school environment. Serving as a dedicated School Nurse (RN, LPN, or CNA), you will play a critical role in supporting the health and well-being of a medically fragile or special needs student, fostering an inclusive and safe educational setting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct nursing care tailored to the student’s individualized healthcare plan (IHP).
• Administer medications and monitor medical devices; perform essential medical procedures including tracheostomy care, seizure response, and feeding tube assistance.
• Continuously assess the student’s condition throughout the school day and respond promptly to any health emergencies.
• Maintain accurate and confidential health records in compliance with district and state regulations.
• Collaborate closely with school staff, special education teams, and families to ensure optimal educational access.
• Accompany the student during transportation and school-related activities when required.
• Adhere strictly to confidentiality and HIPAA standards.

Qualifications:

• Current South Dakota license as an RN, LPN, or CNA in good standing.
• Valid CPR/BLS certification.
• Ability to safely lift, transfer, or assist the student.
• Preferably experience working in schools or with medically fragile children.
• Strong communication, organizational skills, and teamwork mindset.
