Located in Portales, NM, this opportunity supports K-12 students by providing occupational therapy services within a school setting for the academic contract year. The role focuses on assisting licensed Occupational Therapists in delivering targeted therapeutic interventions to enhance students’ educational and developmental outcomes.
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant Program
- Valid state license as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
- Certification by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)
- Minimum of one year recent experience in occupational therapy, preferably in school or pediatric environments
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background check
- Commitment to continuing education and professional development as required by state and district guidelines
Responsibilities:
- Assist in delivering occupational therapy interventions under the supervision of a licensed OT
- Implement activities that promote student growth in educational and developmental goals
- Monitor, document, and report student progress; collaborate to adjust treatment plans accordingly
- Work closely with teachers, administrators, and parents to address student needs effectively
- Maintain accurate records according to state and district compliance standards
- Engage in ongoing professional development to remain current with best practices in the field
