Step into a rewarding contract position supporting students as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) in an education setting near San Jose, CA. This short-term, full-time opportunity covers a 9-week maternity leave starting in late January or early February. You'll provide valuable assistance across four school sites—two primary and two middle schools—collaborating with dedicated teams and working directly with a caseload of 57 students.
Key Qualifications and Experience:
- Current COTA license and credentials required to practice in a school environment
- Previous experience in school-based occupational therapy settings preferred
- Strong ability to adapt and organize in multi-site roles
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for working with students, teachers, and families
- Proficiency with documentation and digital record keeping
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and consultative occupational therapy services under the supervision of a licensed occupational therapist
- Support students’ participation in classroom activities through interventions and accommodations
- Work closely with teachers and related service staff to implement IEP goals
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate, timely documentation
- Facilitate activities and exercises designed to enhance fine motor, sensory, and functional skills
- Communicate regularly with families and educational teams regarding student needs and successes
