A K-12 Educational Opportunity is available for a skilled educator specializing in Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) instruction. This contract position, based in Apex, NC, offers the chance to support and empower students with hearing impairments throughout the academic year.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction tailored to the needs of deaf and hard of hearing students, ensuring accessibility and inclusivity within the classroom.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and families to create individualized education plans (IEPs) that address each student's unique learning requirements.
  • Utilize appropriate assistive technologies and communication strategies, such as sign language, auditory training, and speech therapy integration.
  • Monitor and assess student progress regularly, adapting teaching methodologies accordingly.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to stay updated on the latest educational approaches for DHH students.
  • Foster a supportive and nurturing learning environment that promotes social and emotional growth.

Desired Experience and Qualifications:

  • Valid teaching certification with a specialization in Deaf and Hard of Hearing education.
  • Experience working with K-12 students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication methods relevant to DHH instruction.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Knowledge of current assistive technologies and hearing devices.
  • Commitment to student advocacy and inclusive education practices.
