A K-12 school in Pittsboro, NC, is seeking a skilled Teacher for Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) students to support their diverse student population. This is a contract position for the current school year, ideal for educators who specialize in working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing and who are passionate about fostering inclusive learning environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction tailored to the unique needs of DHH students across all grade levels (K-12).
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Utilize appropriate communication methods, including sign language, auditory training, and assistive technology.
  • Assess student progress regularly and adjust instructional strategies to promote academic and social growth.
  • Advocate for DHH students' access to educational resources and meaningful participation in school activities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification or licensure in Deaf and Hard of Hearing education.
  • Experience working in a K-12 setting with DHH students.
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication modalities.
  • Knowledge of assistive listening devices and related educational technology.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and families.
