A K-12 school in Boston, MA is seeking a skilled Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) to provide vital support to students with visual impairments. This contract position spans the current school year (CSY) and offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in an educational setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and develop individualized orientation and mobility plans tailored to students’ needs
- Provide direct instruction and support to improve students’ spatial awareness, travel skills, and independence
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and related service providers to integrate mobility goals into educational programs
- Utilize specialized techniques and devices to help students safely navigate school and community environments
- Maintain detailed documentation of student progress and adjust interventions accordingly
Desired Qualifications:
- Certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) or equivalent credentials
