Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) with up-to-date credentials.
• Previous experience working in schools or with students with visual impairments is highly valued.
• Strong knowledge of adapted mobility techniques and assistive technologies.
• Excellent communication skills for collaboration with students, teachers, families, and administrators.
• Ability to develop individualized plans tailored to each student's unique needs.
• Adaptable, resourceful, and ready to address a backlog of compensatory services.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess and address students’ mobility and orientation needs within and outside the school setting.
• Deliver direct instruction on travel skills, cane use, and environmental navigation.
• Create and implement compensatory service plans to make up for missed services.
• Document student progress, maintain records, and collaborate on IEPs as needed.
• Work closely with educational teams to integrate mobility strategies into daily routines.
• Advise staff on environmental modifications to ensure safety and accessibility.
