This contract opportunity seeks two skilled Orientation and Mobility Specialists (OMS) to support K-12 students in the Washington DC area. The positions are assigned to Stafford County Public Schools, approximately 45 minutes south of Washington DC, with services provided on-site. One full-time position offers 37.5 hours per week, while the part-time role requires 7 hours weekly. The contract runs from January 5, 2026, through May 29, 2026.

Responsibilities include delivering orientation and mobility services to a caseload of approximately 10 students. Services average 7.5 hours weekly per student and focus on individualized support to enhance student independence and navigation skills. The part-time position is intended to replace a virtual provider, with a strong preference for an on-site presence, though virtual candidates may be considered for this role.

Required qualifications:

  • Active Orientation and Mobility Specialist licensure (AVCREP or comparable credential)
  • Experience working with K-12 students with visual impairments
  • Ability to provide effective mobility and orientation instruction tailored to individual student needs
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and educational teams

Location: Washington DC area (45 minutes south of DC)
