A K-12 school in Gillette, WY, is seeking a dedicated Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) to support students in developing essential skills for safe and independent navigation within their environments. Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and assess the orientation and mobility needs of students with visual impairments.
  • Develop and implement individualized programs to teach navigation and mobility skills tailored to each student’s abilities and environments.
  • Collaborate with educators, therapists, and families to coordinate services and support student success.
  • Provide training and resources to school staff and parents regarding assistive technology and mobility strategies.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and progress reports in compliance with educational standards.

Qualifications:

  • Certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) is required.
  • Experience working with K-12 students in a school setting preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students, families, and educational teams.
