Orientation and Mobility Specialist in Kingston, PA

This full-time position for an Orientation and Mobility Specialist offers a dynamic opportunity to support K-12 students across a variety of school districts within Luzerne County. The role involves providing specialized services to help visually impaired students develop the skills necessary to navigate their environments safely and independently. This contract assignment will start on August 18, 2025, and is structured for the upcoming school year.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct assessments to determine students’ orientation and mobility needs
• Develop and implement individualized plans to improve students’ travel skills
• Collaborate with teachers, families, and support staff to integrate mobility strategies into educational settings
• Provide training on assistive technology and mobility aids
• Maintain accurate records and progress reports in compliance with educational standards

Qualifications:

• Must hold an Orientation and Mobility Specialist license valid in Pennsylvania
• Completion of all required Pennsylvania clearances prior to the start date is mandatory
• Experience working with K-12 students in an itinerant or school-based setting is highly preferred
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to manage travel across multiple districts within Luzerne County

Location: Kingston, PA, with itinerant responsibilities across Luzerne County

Schedule: Full-time, approximately 30-35 hours per week
